Principles and Requirements for Filter Selection
Filters are small devices used to remove small amounts of solid particles from liquids, protecting the normal operation of equipment. When the fluid enters the filter cartridge equipped with a filter screen of a certain specification, impurities are blocked, and the clean filtrate is discharged from the filter outlet. When cleaning is required, simply remove the detachable filter cartridge, clean it, and reinstall it.
1. Filter Inlet and Outlet Diameter:
In principle, the inlet and outlet diameter of the filter should not be smaller than the inlet diameter of the matching pump, and generally should be the same as the diameter of the inlet pipeline.
2. Nominal Pressure Selection:
Determine the pressure rating of the filter according to the maximum pressure that may occur in the filtration pipeline.
3. Mesh Size Selection:
The selection of the filter mesh size primarily considers the particle size of the impurities to be intercepted, and is determined according to the process requirements of the medium flow. The particle sizes that various specifications of wire mesh can intercept can be found in the table "Filter Screen Specifications".
4. Filter Material:
The material of the filter is generally selected to be the same as the material of the connected process pipeline. For different service conditions, cast iron, carbon steel, low-alloy steel, or stainless steel filters can be considered.
5. Filter Pressure Loss Calculation:
For water filters, under normal calculated rated flow rate, the pressure loss is 0.52-1.2 kPa.
Filter Applications
1. Stainless Steel Filters
Stainless steel filters are widely used in pipelines for various media such as steam, air, water, and oil; protecting various equipment, pumps, valves, etc., in the pipeline system from blockage and damage caused by rust, welding slag, and other impurities in the pipeline. Stainless steel filters have strong anti-fouling capabilities, convenient sewage discharge, large flow area, small pressure loss, simple structure, small size, and light weight. The filter screen material is all stainless steel, with strong corrosion resistance and long service life.
2. Y-type Filters
Y-type filters are an indispensable filtering device in pipeline systems for conveying media. Y-type filters are usually installed at the inlet end of pressure reducing valves, relief valves, constant level valves, or other equipment to remove impurities in the medium and protect the normal use of valves and equipment. Y-type filters have advanced structure, low resistance, and convenient sewage discharge. 3. Y-Type Tie Rod Elastic Filter
The Y-type tie rod elastic filter adopts a new design, combining a Y-type filter with an elastic joint. It has a simple structure and is convenient to use, solving the problem of inconvenient installation on fixed pipelines caused by different flange lengths of various standard products. The tie rod elastic filter is mainly used in high-rise buildings, multi-story buildings, or factory water supply and drainage piping. It is usually installed at the inlet end of pressure reducing valves, pressure relief valves, constant level valves, or other main equipment. Installing a tie rod elastic filter facilitates the removal of pipeline debris or simplifies installation and disassembly, ensuring the normal operation of valves or equipment.
4. Basket Filter
The basket filter is a small device used to remove small amounts of solid particles from liquids, protecting compressors, pumps, and other equipment and instruments from damage; it is also a small device for improving product purity and purifying gases. Therefore, basket filters are widely used in petroleum, chemical, chemical fiber, pharmaceutical, food, and other industries. The basket filter consists of a housing, a drain cover, a filter element, a filter screen, and bolts.
5. T-Type Filter
The T-type filter is widely used in pipelines for various media such as steam, air, water, and oil, protecting various equipment in the pipeline system, such as water pumps and valves, from blockage and damage caused by rust, welding slag, and other debris in the pipeline. The T-type filters manufactured by Shanghai Rimei Valve Manufacturing Co., Ltd. have strong anti-fouling performance, convenient drainage, large flow area, low pressure loss, simple structure, and small size; the filter screen material of the T-type filter is stainless steel, which has strong corrosion resistance and a long service life; the T-type filter is also divided into straight-through and deflected types, with filter screen densities ranging from 10 mesh to 120 mesh, and a temperature range of 0~450℃, which can be selected according to user needs.
